Event Overview
This presentation will present the milestones in implant dentistry from its pioneering years to today’s precision. In addition to the historical perspective, discussion will include treatment planning and management of the single tooth, short span, and full arch restoration, with focus on pitfall avoidance and the elements which influence in the precise esthetic and functional outcome possible today.

Course Objectives

  • Understand the history and development of today’s implant dentistry
  • Recognize at initial examination, the routine vs. the complex implant case
  • Discover diagnosis and treatment possibilities with digital implant dentistry

Speaker Bio
Paul A. Schnitman DDS, MSD is in private practice limited to implant dentistry in Concord and is a Senior Lecturer at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he teaches implant dentistry to advanced graduate periodontal residents. He is also a Fellow of The Academy of Osseointegration and an Honored Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the recipient of its highest awards - the Aaron Gershkoff and the Isaiah Lew Award. He is a past president of the American Board of Oral Implantology, the Prosthodontics Research group and the Implantology Research group of the International Association of Dental Research and American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Dr. Schnitman has served as Chair of the Department of Implant Dentistry at Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he is also the recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Award. He was Co-chairman, with Dr. Leonard Shulman, of the Harvard/NIH Conference on Dental Implants which published the world’s first guidelines for Dental implants. He has published widely and lectures nationally and internationally on dental implants. Dr. Schnitman was the first university trained Implantologist (1974) under Dr. A. Norman Crainin.
